Hello all,

Thought I’d send out another quick update.

The big event for this coming week is Oktoberfest.  Most of the locals here in Oregon know about this one.  It’s a gigantic German festival with lots of lederhosen, sauerkraut, beer and music here in the town of Mt Angel.  About 300,000 people come each year.  It runs for 4 days – Thursday 12th – Sun 15th.  Also during this time you can take tours of the abbey and visit the seminary which is just a short walk up the hill from the festival.  You can check out the schedule of events at: http://www.oktoberfest.org/  Hope to see you there!

The classes are going well, and it only took a little adjusting to get back into the swing of classes again.  This semester I’ll be taking Epistemology (philosophy of knowledge), Philosophy of Being, Modern philosophy, Iconography (painting course on making icons), Spirituality, and elementary Latin.  I opted to take a Latin course and learn yet another language.  So far it’s going very well considering my usually horrendous language skills.  We have a good professor and depending on how Latin goes this year, I might take Greek next year.

I’ll send out a little better email as things go on here, but wanted to encourage you all to come to Oktoberfest.  Hope to see you all there.

Matt
