Hello everyone,

Things are going well this semester. I got off to a rocky start at first; but is smoothing out nicely.  I’m not taking quite as many classes this semester so I can spend more on my spiritual life.  I’ll be taking Iconography again, more Latin, Philosophy of Thomas Aquinas, historical intro to theology, and Vatican II documents.  We had a week long silent retreat at the beginning of the semester which lead by a great guy, but at the end of the week I was certainly glad to be able to make noise again. J  We are now in the middle of our annual reviews and evaluations.  Things are going along very well on that front.

We had a big Superbowl party and just about everybody was there – including a number of the monks and the priests.  We got about 25 pizzas which filled the whole back seat of the car, and they were gone in like 30 minutes.  That’s 1 pizza every 60 seconds.  Talk about ravenous beasts!  Surprisingly, the last 2 pizzas lasted a long time, so we got the count just right.  It was a lot of fun and we all had a great time – even if the Raiders fans didn’t.

A week ago some of us took a trip up to Mt Hood and had just about the best day on the mountain I can remember.  In two weeks, a big group of us are going to Mt. Bachelor for the weekend.  It should be great because there is a pro snowboarding competition that day in the half-pipe.  I’m looking forward to some fun snowboarding with the guys and watching the competition.

This semester is loaded with extra work from being a social director and new duties as a resident assistant.  We lost social director (there were 3 of us) last semester and that’s made more work for us remaining guys.  We’re trying to get the new guy up to speed.  We’ve also had a big bout of the flu going through up here.  I haven’t had the pleasure yet, but it was putting people out of commission left and right.  So in many ways, life is just about normal. J

I wanted to let you know that I put some more pictures up on my web page and updated it a bit.  Check it out at:

I’ll be adding more pictures as I get them sorted.  I took off most of the really old pictures to save server space.  The server it’s on is sometimes slow; but it’s still free for me.

I hope you are all doing well and I keep you in my prayers,

Matt
